MORE THAN TECHNIQUE

Training with depth and direction.

Every lesson is designed to move beyond memorizing movements. Students develop awareness, timing, control, and the discipline to practice with intention.

The academy’s four guiding values are visible in every part of the journey: faith that gives training purpose, discipline that turns knowledge into skill, legacy that honors what has been received, and warrior spirit that chooses courage and responsibility.

Faith

Discipline

Learn the art. Carry it forward.

Strength guided by character.

Our foundation and purpose.

Consistent practice with intention.

My Marital Arts Journey

GRANDMASTER EDWARD BANSUELO

My name is Grandmaster Edward Anthony Bansuelo Kumu/Guro, one of the many promoted and blessed to have been trained by the late SGM Ramiro U. Estalilla Jr., DMA, known with deep respect and affection as Apo.

I am also a faithful believer in Jesus Christ. I am a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. My faith and family are central to who I am and continue to guide my life, my teaching, and my martial arts journey.

Apo often said, “Chicken is chicken, but we don’t all cook them the same way.” Those words have stayed with me throughout my martial arts journey. I believe martial arts are much the same. We may study the same principles and techniques, but each practitioner brings a different history, perspective, and spirit to the art.

Another comment that has stayed with me came from Apo “Master the art of your choice, but above all things, follow the true Master of Heaven and Earth, the Lord Jesus Christ.” These words remind me that martial arts are not only about physical skill. They are also about discipline, humility, character, faith, and the way we live our lives.

My journey has been shaped by Filipino, Hawaiian, Chinese, and Korean martial arts. I have trained and cross-trained under many true masters, learning from each of them and carrying their lessons forward. Every experience has added another layer to my understanding, while Apo’s teachings remain at the heart of my practice.

Today, I am committed to teaching Kabaroan Eskrima as a way of honoring Apo’s legacy. I want to preserve what he entrusted to me and my fellow colleagues and share it with my family and students, and help ensure that this art continues for future generations. The foundation must remain strong, but each practitioner will express the art through their own journey, character, and experience.

The flavor I bring to my teaching comes from a lifetime of training, learning, family, faith, and devotion. Above all, it is my way of keeping Kabaroan Eskrima alive, honoring the teacher who helped shape my path, and following the Lord Jesus Christ, the true Master of happiness.
